I came to Scotland 25 years ago to see what the Community of the Risen Christ was all about. I had heard about it from David and Margaret McGill. They had come to Malta to do a Christian Course I was attending. They had come to talk about Jesus and how He had led them to build a group of people in Glasgow who love Jesus and wanted to unite in this love for God and each other. I felt God say that this was what I needed

I had tried to live the Christian life on my own had had failed. But here was a group of people in which I would be surrounded and protected. I came to Glasgow and there in the Community I met a young man called John. We married in 1988 – 22 years ago. God has blessed us mightily – we have five sons – it has been a real blessing to bring up our children along with other families, to know their support and share holidays, parties, c

elebrations, barbecues, and especially meals together. In the last couple of years we did a course for couples called love and Respect and just now we are doing the Alpha marriage course. Both have been great – they have helped us to grow as a couple and in our love and understanding of each other. John and I loved each other but did not always know how to draw closer together. We have become more open, less defensive, more vulnerable to each other and Jesus, who knows all about vulnerable love – the cross being the perfect example – has blessed our married love more than I could imagine

Our sons are great and we love them very much, we asked them to write a sentence on our family, their faith or the Community. Here is what they said

Brendan (aged 7) – I really like playing with my                                  Fergus (aged 12) – I like playing with my                 JJ (aged 15) – To sum up

friends and my friends are in the Community.                                    friends and some of them are part of the             Community life I would say wonderful,

It seems God did give me the right heart to trust him.                 Community. We play together after the                 truly inspiring, worth it in every way

meetings. I feel God has really blessed my          and I wouldn’t dream of a different life

life and given me a caring and fun family

Peter (aged 18) – I enjoy going on retreats such as Bible week and Kairos weekends that I would only get to go on through Community. I also enjoy the supportive nature of people in Community
